Job Description

The Logistics Professional will be responsible for the safe discharge, receipt, storage, pick, pack, dispatch, and transportation activities in line with regulations and standards to deliver customer requirements within timescales. They will maintain and update appropriate IT systems and resolve queries/issues through interface with other teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Logistics Planning: Ensure all logistics planning is carried out in accordance with the latest issue of the BAE SYSTEMS Part 145 Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE). Maintain general awareness of the defence logistics framework and associated procedures.
  • Receipt and Storage: Receive all items, ensuring that all required documentation is present and correct, and that the packaging is intact. Quarantine any non-conforming items for appropriate investigation action. Record receipts using Stock accounting systems and procedures in place.
  • Pick, Pack, and Dispatch: Pick, pack, and deliver parts requests to the customer, ensuring the right parts are delivered to the right place at the right time safely, including line side replenishment. Protect any materials for dispatch against transit damage, adhering to material packaging standards publications.
  • Transportation and Liaison: Liaise with relevant transport agencies to collect items for onwards dispatch to customer, BAES, or supplier. Ensure that all accompanying documentation requirements are met.
  • Problem Solving and Communication: Identify and record inability to supply items, ensuring all relevant teams are aware. Build effective business relationships with line and suppliers to facilitate supply problems.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understand the workings of a Physical Logistics operation and the importance of documentation in a safety-critical environment. Good planning and expediting knowledge and skills, with experience of using asset tracking/warehouse and planning systems. Knowledge of BAES/customer and supplier logistics processes.
  • Relationship Building and Problem Solving: Relationship building skills to build working rapport with the line and suppliers, and problem-solving skills to ensure quick resolution of items shortages to the line.
  • IT Literacy and Export Control: Good IT literacy skills and knowledge of asset tracking/ERP systems. Working knowledge of Export Control requirements, including ITAR/EAR regulations, and the movement of Classified equipment.
