Principal Advocate for Childcare

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Solicitor or Barrister to join their Legal Services department as Principal Advocate for Childcare. This is a permanent position that offers a unique opportunity to work with a supportive and welcoming team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and advocate on a varied caseload of complex childcare matters, including abuse, non-accidental injuries, child deaths, fictitious illness, and cases involving implacable hostility
  • Advise clients on the legal aspects of childcare matters in the Family Courts
  • Attend Committees, bodies, or panels as may be required
  • Act as a mediator on arbitration matters for internal and external clients
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister
  • Minimum of four years post-qualification experience
  • Willing to conduct advocacy in court
