Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant HLTA

A new Special Educational Needs school in East Leeds is seeking a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a passion for supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This school is dedicated to providing quality education and support to students with complex needs in a purpose-built environment and wants an HLTA who is able to deliver that.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement tailored learning plans for individual pupils, small groups, and whole classes to cater to their diverse needs.
  • Monitor, record, and report on pupils' progress, providing constructive feedback to teachers and therapists.
  • Implement evidence-based behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and create a nurturing learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support each student's development and ensure a cohesive approach.
  • Supervise and direct the work of other adults in supporting learning activities, promoting a team-oriented approach.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with students with ASD in the UK, demonstrating a deep understanding of their needs and challenges.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent qualification, showcasing expertise in teaching and supporting students with complex needs.
  • A proactive and caring attitude, with a strong commitment to supporting students with ASD.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in planning and delivering lessons, with a focus on meeting the diverse needs of students with ASD.
