Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised support to students with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapting lesson materials to meet the needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging positive social interactions and addressing any behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each student.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Support students with personal care needs, if required, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to promoting an inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, are preferred but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one) is required.
