Publicity Strategist for Literary Publishing

We are seeking a seasoned publicity manager to join our team at Elliott & Thompson, a leading independent publisher in the UK. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in developing and implementing integrated publicity campaigns across various media channels.
About the RoleThe Head of Publicity will be responsible for devising commercially effective campaigns in collaboration with the editorial and sales teams. This includes coordinating freelance publicists, managing the publicity and marketing budget, and building relationships with key influencers and media contacts.
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years' experience in a publicity function and a comprehensive knowledge of online and traditional media challenges and opportunities. They will be able to think creatively and strategically, identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation.
- Campaign Development: Develop and implement innovative publicity campaigns across print, broadcast, and online media.
- Team Management: Coordinate a small team of freelance publicists and manage the publicity and marketing budget.
- Influencer Relations: Build relationships with key influencers, journalists, bloggers, and vloggers to increase coverage.
- Author Events: Organise author events with bookshops, venues, and festivals.
- Author Care: Provide excellent author care and circulate reviews, plans, and materials to the sales and editorial teams.
- Sales Support: Work with the Sales team to secure in-store visibility and create POS and other marketing materials.
- Partnerships: Set up partnerships and run competitions.
- Digital Presence: Contribute to online and social media content and develop the strategic vision for online, AMS, social, and mobile presence.
- Trade Marketing: Oversee trade marketing materials and catalogues.
This is a full-time role based in London, offering a competitive salary of £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. If you are a motivated and experienced publicity professional looking to take on a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.
