Job Title: Chef de Rang

Join the Gilpin Hotel & Lake House team as a Chef de Rang, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a section of the restaurant to a high standard, ensuring seamless service throughout the guest's dining experience.
  • Show flexibility and adaptability in working various shifts, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • Set up the restaurant before dinner service, adhering to the table plan and ensuring a smooth start to the service.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the menu, including any allergen amendments, to provide accurate information to guests.
  • Communicate effectively with the management team and kitchen staff to resolve any guest issues.
  • Process food orders and payments efficiently using EPOS.
  • Take drinks orders and process them accurately on EPOS.
  • Prepare and serve tea and coffee to guests' requirements.
  • Present and explain the wine list to guests, showcasing your knowledge and expertise.
  • Seat guests confidently and explain the menu, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Serve dishes with confidence, using the correct explanation from the kitchen.
  • Call away dishes to the kitchen in an efficient manner, maintaining a smooth service.
  • Clear tables with elegance, ensuring a clean and tidy dining area.
  • Develop a keen sense of guest expectations, reading their tableside manner and adapting your service accordingly.
  • Understand and follow safety procedures, prioritizing the safety of guests and colleagues.
  • Represent the restaurant in a positive manner, promoting a professional image at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with guests, managing their expectations and providing accurate information.
  • Maintain a high level of uniform standards, taking pride in your appearance and the image of the restaurant.
  • Set a good example for commis waiters, demonstrating excellent service skills and knowledge.
  • Develop a strong understanding of food hygiene and its importance in the restaurant, adhering to strict standards.
  • Support other team members in their roles, promoting a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Hold a valid first aid certification.
  • Recognize and treat Love & Laughter guests with the highest level of service and attention.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar establishment, preferably in a fine dining or high-end restaurant setting.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, with the ability to follow them strictly.
  • Knowledge of allergens and their potential effects, ensuring food safety for guests with allergies.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the kitchen team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as per the demands of the restaurant.
  • Food hygiene qualification is essential.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary: £27,495 to £31,005.
  • Gratuities allocated on a points basis, with average levels projected at £153 to £460 per month.
  • 45 hours per week.
