We are seeking a skilled Maternity Bereavement Support Worker to join our Bereavement Team on a fixed-term basis. The successful candidate will be based at either Worthing or St. Richard's Hospitals, with regular cross-site working between the two sites.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe Maternity Bereavement Support Worker will provide a professional, sensitive, and compassionate service to bereaved relatives, dealing with distressing and emotive situations. Key duties include:
- Working alongside Bereavement Midwives to support parents on diagnosis of a baby's death, providing ongoing support while in hospital and once at home.
- Assisting Bereavement Midwives and colleagues in delivering a caring and effective patient-focused service, in line with the Trust's aims, objectives, and standards.
- Ensuring sensitive and appropriate care is provided to meet individuals' needs, respecting personal dignity and beliefs.
- Handling and exchanging information with care, accuracy, and sensitivity, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
- Supporting families through bereavement and the grief process.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working as an MCA/MSW.
- Additional training to diploma level equivalent, or equivalent through relevant short courses/English language and math's GCSE A-C, Level 4-9/Care Certificate.
- An understanding of the effect and impact of loss, change, death, grief, and bereavement on individuals and families.
