About the Role

We are seeking an expert in AI life sciences to join our strategic project. As an AI Life Sciences Research and Development Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and responsible use of AI technology in domains such as synthetic biology and drug discovery.

Responsibilities
  1. Risk Assessment and Analysis: Conduct thorough risk assessments specific to AI applications in life sciences, identifying potential misuse scenarios and establishing safeguards for sensitive use cases.
  2. Safety and Ethical Framework Development: Collaborate with AI safety and ethics researchers to create frameworks for responsible AI use in life sciences, contributing to policy recommendations and industry standards.
  3. Data Analysis and Model Evaluation: Analyze complex biological and chemical datasets for AI models, providing insights into model behavior, accuracy, and limitations in life science applications.
  4. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including AI researchers, data scientists, and cybersecurity experts, to ensure AI applications meet safety and ethical standards.
  5. Research and Documentation: Produce comprehensive reports on model evaluations, societal impacts, and scientific findings, documenting risk assessment processes and best practices.
Requirements
  1. Educational Background: Ph.D. or Master's in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field with a focus on AI or machine learning applications.
  2. Technical Expertise:
  3. Proven experience in life sciences AI applications, such as model development, bioinformatics, or complex data analysis.
  4. Familiarity with AI safety protocols, ethical AI guidelines, and biological/chemical regulatory standards.
  5. Certifications:
  6. Certified in AI Ethics and Compliance or equivalent (e.g., AI Ethics Certificate, Certified AI Safety Specialist) preferred.
  7. Certifications in Data Protection and Biosecurity Standards are advantageous.
  8. Analytical Skills:
  9. Strong analytical skills for interpreting biological/chemical data and integrating it with AI model outcomes.
  10. Expertise in conducting thorough risk assessments to evaluate societal and public health impacts.
  11. Experience: Previous experience in fields like genomics, pharmaceutical AI, synthetic biology, or biosecurity is highly desirable.
  12. Communication Skills: Excellent skills in technical documentation and the ability to clearly present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  13. Security Clearance: Must have or be eligible for SC Clearance.
Preferred Skills
  1. Proficiency in threat modeling techniques and mitigation of misuse risks related to life sciences.
  2. Understanding of the societal impacts of AI applications in life sciences and the ability to contribute to policy discussions.
