Job Description:

We are working with an outstanding Primary School in Newcastle who are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to start ASAP. The role is full-time and long-term, with hours Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be working with pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour, requiring a resilient practitioner with excellent relationship-building skills. The role involves building positive relationships with Class Teachers to plan and deliver learning activities that meet the needs of all pupils.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supporting pupils in Upper KS2 with challenging behaviour and SEND on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner.
  • Building positive relationships with Class Teachers to support pupils and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress.
  • Stretching and challenging pupils of all ability levels.
  • Using a range of strategies to assess pupil progress.
  • Preparing resources for lessons.
  • Supervising pupils at break times and lunch times as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service).
  • A minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature.
  • Experience of supporting pupils within a Primary School setting.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfill their potential and flourish in education.
