Nursing Care Lead

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team at the medical centre, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care. Key responsibilities include undertaking new patient health checks, supporting the practice nurse with health promotion programmes, and carrying out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately.

Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct routine health checks for new patients
- Support the practice nurse in implementing health promotion initiatives
- Carry out clinical observations and record findings accurately
- Monitor blood pressure and advise patients accordingly
- Provide wound care and dressings as required
- Support chronic disease clinics under the guidance of the practice nurse
- Conduct BMI checks as directed
- Act as a chaperone as necessary
- Undertake venepuncture, flu vaccinations, and ear irrigation under supervision
- Perform ECGs as requested
- Ensure specimens are prepared for transport and clinical rooms are adequately stocked
- Participate in minor operations and maintain a clean and safe clinical environment
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
Secondary Responsibilities
- Participate in practice audits as directed by the audit lead
- Contribute to local initiatives enhancing service delivery and patient care
- Support shared learning within the organisation
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures as per the duty rota
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will possess relevant nursing qualifications, significant post-registration experience, and recent primary and community nursing experience. They should also have a mentor/teaching qualification, clinical supervision training, and experience in clinical leadership, audit, research, and project management.
Experience
Candidates should have experience in nurse-led management of minor illness, minor ailments, and injuries, as well as nurse-led triage, compiling protocols, and clinical guidelines. They should also have experience working with community development initiatives and health needs assessments.
Other Requirements
The successful candidate should be a self-directed practitioner, highly motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, and able to work across boundaries as a team player.
