We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Microbiologist Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the clinical, laboratory, and infection control service for our three Trusts and colleagues in general practice.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Clinical Microbiology Consultants in delivering all relevant aspects of the clinical, laboratory, and infection control service.
  • Advise on the appropriate samples to take, antibiotic prescribing, interpretation of results, clinical authorisation of laboratory results, phoning important results, daily ward rounds on Intensive Care, assessment of complex patients on the wards if required and regular MDT participation in other areas such as the Renal Unit, Neurosurgery, Neonatal ITU, infective endocarditis, bone and joint infections, OPAT service and combined infection/Radiology MDT.
  • Participate fully in the week night out of hours rota and the weekend rota, which is approximately one night a week and one weekend in five.
