About the Role

Sense is seeking a highly skilled Technical Solutions Director to join our IT team in Birmingham, UK on a hybrid basis. This exciting new role focuses on designing and delivering technical solutions across Sense, including cloud solutions, connectivity, applications, and end-user computing.

This position is responsible for planning and delivering change to these technology solutions, ensuring an efficient supply chain to meet organisational requirements. The role oversees cyber security across the estate, including training staff and testing incident responses.

The Technical Solutions Director will lead a team of infrastructure and application solutions analysts, working closely with suppliers. For the wider organisation, this role will lead the delivery of corporate, coherent technology, promoting standard solutions and meeting user needs. The successful candidate will work with business areas to focus on business value and requirements, while delivering sustainable, efficient, and elegant solutions that drive business benefit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Heads of Data Management and Service Delivery (Technology) to scope, plan, monitor, and deliver projects successfully, within budget and on time
  • Develop effective working relationships with senior managers across Sense to translate strategic priorities into practical projects and programmes
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire the Technology Solutions team to collaborate effectively and deliver personal targets and objectives
  • Carry out relevant people management tasks, including recruitment, annual appraisals, performance management, sickness absence, and HR policies and procedures
  • Own the technical platforms and architecture for the technology estate, focusing on application and user experience
  • Establish and deliver technical roadmaps for all platforms
  • Establish DevOps approach and CICD pipeline for key applications services
  • Manage technical delivery for business-driven projects, from solution design to service transition
  • Support internal projects across the organisation impacting or involving the team

Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience managing suppliers in a multi-supplier environment
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security principles
  • Broad knowledge of end-to-end technology delivery from concept to in-service
  • Project and Programme Management skills, capable of working on multiple projects and initiatives
  • Experience working in a charity or social care environment desirable
  • Stakeholder engagement skills and ability to work with teams of varying technical abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of technology solutions, including Applications, Platforms, Cyber Security, Cloud, and Integration
  • Experience delivering technology solutions through suppliers, including defining requirements, evaluating and selecting solutions, and managing delivery and acceptance
  • Knowledge of IT architecture, including developing architecture models using TOGAF or equivalent methodology
  • Knowledge of Project and Programme Management tools and techniques, such as Agile or PRINCE2

Salary: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience
