Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner

At Somerset Gardens Family Health Care Centre, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Salaried General Practitioner to join our team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload and providing high-quality patient care in a primary care setting. This will involve undertaking a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and visiting patients at home.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  1. Undertake a range of clinical duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, and visiting patients at home.
  2. Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers.
  3. Assess the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  4. Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  5. Develop care plans for patients in consultation with them and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  6. Provide counselling and health education to patients.
  7. Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  8. Collect data for audit purposes.
  9. Prescribe medications in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary.
Other Responsibilities:
  1. Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, including prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
  2. A commitment to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  3. Contributing to evaluation, audit, and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  4. Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records.
  5. Contributing to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data.
  6. Attending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.
Confidentiality:

In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. The post-holder will respect patient confidentiality and act appropriately.

Health and Safety:
  1. Assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others' health, safety, and security as defined in the practice health and safety policy.
  2. Identify risks involved in work activities and undertake such activities in a way that manages those risks.
  3. Make effective use of training to update knowledge and skills.
  4. Use appropriate infection control procedures and maintain work areas in a tidy and safe way.
  5. Report potential risks identified.
Probationary Period:

The post-holder will be subject to a one-year probationary period, during which time the period of notice will be one week on either side.

Notice Period:

Once the probationary period has been completed, there will be a three-month period of notice on either side to terminate the employment.
