Senior Electrical Project Supervisor

1st Step Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Project Supervisor to oversee a significant electrical project within the commercial sector.

We are looking for professionals with a proven history of managing projects valued between £5-£10 million.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the delivery of electrical services, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, while collaborating with clients, main contractors, and consultants.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager regarding project progress.
  • Supervise the on-site construction team, including electrical and external contractors.
  • Develop and implement health & safety strategies, ensuring adherence to current regulations and client specifications.
  • Monitor and report all health and safety concerns, managing the distribution and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the team.
  • Exhibit proactive health and safety leadership, ensuring all team members and contractors understand and maintain safety standards.
  • Conduct audits of supply chain activities on-site in accordance with approved Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS), ensuring they are updated as the project progresses.
  • Lead the management of safe systems of work for mechanical and electrical operations.
  • Oversee the collection of environmental data from subcontractors.
  • Manage the project risk register and monitor the weekly resource allocation and progress plans.
  • Implement quality assurance strategies, conducting thorough inspections of installations in line with QA procedures.
  • Facilitate quality assurance meetings with a comprehensive understanding of completed work areas.
  • Coordinate the trade-to-trade handover process effectively.
  • Manage the snagging and de-snagging processes for the supply chain.
  • Audit construction installations to ensure compliance with electrical standards.
  • Ensure that installation works align with project strategies and drawing specifications.
  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to the project timeline and construction sequence while efficiently allocating tasks.
  • Address electrical issues directly, liaising with clients and design consultants for resolution and clarification.
  • Conduct toolbox talks as necessary for subcontractors.
  • Review ongoing work to identify potential defects or risks.
  • Complete accurate project material take-offs as part of the procurement process.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant industry qualifications such as City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or higher.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • Prior experience in a similar role as an Electrical Project Supervisor.
  • Strong ability to influence and promote positive health and safety practices on-site.
  • Experience in managing electrical subcontractors.
  • Proficient IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Word.
  • Understanding of building services, including design principles, method statements, inspection test plans, risk assessments, commissioning, and handover processes.
