Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage a specific project or segment of a project.
  • Execute all essential Quantity Surveying functions, including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
  • Prepare and oversee interim payment applications and finalize certifications.
  • Draft, manage, and finalize subcontract agreements.
  • Monitor and report on monthly expenditure.
  • Develop and prepare claims documentation.
  • Formulate and finalize the overall account.
  • Supervise daily activities of any junior or assistant quantity surveyors.
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and consultants to achieve project objectives while fostering strong relationships.
  • Provide guidance to project management on contractual ramifications of proposed actions.
  • Assess commercial risks associated with the project(s).
  • Compile and manage monthly contract review reports.
  • Prepare weekly Business Plan Review (BPR) data.
  • Generate monthly management accounts information.
  • Contribute contractual and commercial insights into the Project Business Plan as necessary.
  • Assist in establishing the project budget from the contract award.
  • Identify, negotiate, and implement change control processes.
  • Ensure proper execution of contract documents before project initiation.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Keep management informed of any issues or risks that may impact the project or business.

Qualifications:

  • Successfully managed a small to medium-sized project independently or;
  • Supported a commercial manager/senior commercial manager on a larger project and/or managed a segment (£25m) of a larger project.
  • Hold a degree in a relevant field (Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Management).
  • Possess experience with JCT contracts.
