About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Specialist Practitioner to join our team in the Norfolk and Waveney Advice, Support and Access Children and Young People's Mental Health Service.

The Advice, Support and Access service provides a single point of access for mental health support for the Norfolk and Waveney region for children and young people aged 0 up to 25 years.

As a Mental Health Specialist Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing the mental health needs of children, young people, and their families, and providing high-quality clinical interventions to support their well-being.

You will work closely with other members of the skill mix team, including nurses, occupational therapists, and social workers, to provide a comprehensive service that meets the needs of our clients.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mental health, with experience of working with children, young people, and their families. They will be able to demonstrate excellent clinical skills, including assessment, risk assessment, and care planning.

The role requires a high level of autonomy, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including children, young people, parents, teachers, and other professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assess the mental health needs of children, young people, and their families
  • Provide high-quality clinical interventions to support the well-being of children, young people, and their families
  • Work closely with other members of the skill mix team to provide a comprehensive service
  • Develop and implement care plans that meet the needs of children, young people, and their families
  • Contribute to the development of the service, including service development and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, registered Occupational Therapist, social worker
  • Degree level study or equivalent
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to the role
  • At least 3 years extensive experience of clinical practice in mental health
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of CYP and family mental health practice from previous experience
  • High level risk assessment and risk management experience and able to articulate this to the team and partner agencies
  • Extensive experience in the delivery of clinical interventions
