Job Description

Ramboll Group A/S is a leading environmental consultancy seeking a highly skilled Senior Ecologist to join our Ecosystem Solutions department. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including transport, residential and commercial development, and renewable energy initiatives.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced ecologist with a strong background in biodiversity conservation and management. The ideal candidate will have a degree in ecology or a related field, along with membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management. Possession of a protected species survey licence, particularly for bats, would be advantageous.

This role involves managing and undertaking ecological surveys, producing high-quality reports, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Planning and executing ecological surveys and producing comprehensive reports
  • Undertaking ecological mitigation design and delivery
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies and planning authorities
  • Managing small to medium-scale projects and contributing to large-scale projects under the guidance of the ecology lead
  • Serving as the primary point of contact with project managers, clients, and partner organizations
  • Delivering technical expertise on complex projects
  • Preparing fee proposals and assisting with client relationship management
  • Supervising junior ecologists and sub-consultants, and participating in resource planning
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A degree in ecology or a related field and membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management
  • Protected species licence(s), preferably for bats
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and experience with GIS software (ArcGIS or QGIS)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to produce clear, concise written documents
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently under deadlines
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and the UK planning system
  • A clean driving licence and willingness to work at unsociable hours
