About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work with our planning team to achieve ecological betterment through development, aligning with The Environment Act 2021.

As an Ecological Impact Specialist, you will develop policies and processes to ensure Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements are met at pre-application and planning application stages. You may also visit sites to review baseline habitats and monitor BNG implementation on permitted sites.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing policies and processes for BNG;
  • Advising the planning team, applicants, and agents on BNG requirements;
  • Visiting sites to review baseline habitats and monitor BNG implementation;
  • Undertaking field surveys for potential off-setting land and monitoring sites with received off-set biodiversity units.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong environmental background, good knowledge of environmental legislation, habitats, and species, experience in survey work, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Benefits

This role offers a fixed-term contract for one year, with opportunities for secondment. You will work 18.5 hours per week, split between Yare House, Norwich, and home-working.

The estimated salary range for this role is £29,269 - £31,364 per annum, pro rata for the part-time hours. If you are passionate about ecology and want to make a positive impact, please apply.
