We are located in a convenient area with good public transport links. Our academy is easily accessible by car, and we offer safe and secure onsite parking with electric charging points.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Academy Medical Team
  • Overseeing Student Reception in relation to Medical requirements
  • Collaborating with the Student Services Manager to ensure that relevant medical processes are understood and followed
  • Maintaining up-to-date records of student medical information
  • Responding to emergency medical situations across the academy
  • Ensuring that all medication and EpiPens are in date
  • Seeking advice from professionals as necessary
  • Liaising with the School Nurses to organize immunizations
  • Attending all meetings for students with medical needs
  • Staying up-to-date with relevant academy and statutory guidance and policies
  • Maintaining the medical register and ensuring it is accessible to all staff
  • Referring students with medical needs to the school nurse and monitoring until a decision is made
  • Ensuring that all Healthcare Plans (HCPs) are updated annually
  • Meeting with parents as necessary for students with medical needs
  • Issuing students with medical cards when evidence of need is provided
  • Liaising with the Attendance Officer, Leadership, and LA senior EWO when a child has a serious medical need requiring a period of absence
  • Maintaining the security of all medical files in a locked cabinet
  • Conferring with Leadership when a student is diagnosed with a medical condition that could affect a member of staff
  • Ensuring annual training takes place for first aiders for students with medical needs
  • Supporting with initial assessments of student medical requirements
  • Providing general support within the Student Services Centre
  • Supporting with students referred for unsatisfactory uniform
  • Providing advice and support to students as required
  • Supervising students while waiting for appropriate action to be agreed or taken
  • Referring cases where necessary to the named person with responsibility for safeguarding and child protection
Qualifications & Experience

We are seeking a candidate with:

  • Nationally recognized qualifications
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft software
  • Ability to learn the Bromcom system for input and export of student data
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and medical procedures for young people
  • Knowledge of the range of agencies that work with students and their families
  • Basic knowledge of first aid, including emergency first aid training
  • Knowledge of social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Experience of working in an educational establishment or high motivation to do so
