Job Overview

Dar, a leading international consulting organization, is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its Transportation Unit in London. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of international projects, primarily in the Middle East and Africa.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 20 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary design and consultancy environment, with a strong track record of project management and team leadership. You will be expected to prepare commercial bid proposals, act as project manager, and maintain liaison with other departments and project sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Transportation Department's workload, ensuring timely delivery of projects and high-quality outputs.
  • Prepare and submit commercial bid proposals and tenders, showcasing Dar's expertise and capabilities.
  • Act as project manager for projects led by the Department, or as Group Leader coordinating Transportation Team inputs for projects led by other disciplines.
  • Maintain effective liaison and provide technical support to other Departments, Area Offices, and Project Sites, as required.
  • Represent Dar's interests through meetings and presentations with Client representatives.
  • Ensure the Company's Quality Assurance system is applied at all times, monitoring work and outputs produced by the Transportation Team and external subcontractors.
  • Coordinate project details with Senior Directors, overseeing deliverables and ensuring timely submission.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Department, allocating resources, approving leave, and signing off expenses.
  • Occasionally participate in projects as a technical expert, leveraging your expertise to drive project success.
Requirements
  • A 3-year degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of experience and education; MSc. or higher is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects and resources, and people.
  • Experience of working in different operational environments, especially in less-developed and emerging nations.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with good report writing abilities; knowledge of a second language would be a bonus.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
