Job Description

The Diocese of Canterbury is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to oversee strategic projects and ensure sufficient funds are available for planned project expenditure.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage restricted funds, ensuring full utilisation against unrestricted expenditure.
  • Prepare monthly reports and year-end schedules, providing detailed commentary on material variances against project budget.
  • Proactively review portfolio of restricted funds and prepare forecasts for project income, expenditure, and cash flow.

Reporting to the Head of Finance:

  • Support team in planning, preparation, and delivery of statutory reports.
  • Collaborate on publications, internal and external audits, and Annual Report and Accounts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified or with professional accountancy, finance, or related qualification (ACCA or CIMA advantageous).
  • Experience in year-end schedule preparation and project report writing.
  • Able to interpret financial entries to understand nature of financial transactions.

Estimated Salary: £25,360 per annum.

This role is a fixed-term contract from January 2025 until December 2025, working 21 hours per week. The successful candidate will be based in the location and will have access to excellent benefits.
