Neurology Consultant

This is a full-time opportunity to join our team as a Neurology Consultant at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is based on our Wakefield site, although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the service delivers high-quality patient care in the most efficient, productive, and rewarding way for our staff and patients.

Main Duties
  1. Outpatients (general and specialist)
  2. Inpatient in-reach service to wards within the Trust following referral to Neurology as part of a 9-5 pm, weekly Acute Neurologist rota.
  3. Urgent and Emergency Care duties, including out-of-hours on-call schedules, will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working practices.
  4. Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving
    • Good time management
  • Desirable:
    • Possess good organisational and personal management skills
GMC Registration
  • Essential:
    • Please state full GMC number
    • Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
    • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Neurology or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent)
Experience
  • Desirable:
    • Computer literate
    • Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
Qualifications
  • Essential:
    • Medical Degree from recognised medical school
    • MRCP or equivalent
    • MRCP- SCE in Neurology
  • Desirable:
    • Higher degree: PhD/MD/ M.Sc.
    • Fellowship in a Sub-specialty
    • Publications in peer reviewed journals
