Project OverviewThe successful candidate will work on the project 'Semantic brain to computer communication', which aims to develop a radically new BCI based on semantic decoding. This involves running a series of experiments to record neural data while individuals focus on a series of individual concepts. You will be responsible for experiment design, extraction of information from electroencephalogram (EEG), functional near infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and other physiological signals, as well as analysis work to develop decoding models and integrate natural language modelling with neural decoders.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct experiments to record neural data
- Extract information from EEG, fNIRS and other physiological signals
- Develop decoding models and integrate natural language modelling with neural decoders
- Work with the project team to explore how neural engineering technology can be used to provide accurate, real-time, decoding of user intention
The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or be very close to submitting their PhD thesis) in Biomedical Engineering, Brain-Computer Interfaces, Neural Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Neuroscience or a closely related discipline. You will have evidence of a developing research agenda and a developing record of publications in internationally recognised, reputable journals. Significant experience in programming and strong communication skills are also essential.
