About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Arboricultural Officer to join our dynamic Tree & Woodland Team. As an Arboricultural Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing all designated parks, public open spaces, including those within Council-owned housing in North Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional advice on arboricultural matters to inform decision-making on planning applications where trees are impacted.
  • Respond to over 700 planning consultations annually within 21 days.
  • Defend actions in court cases, civil actions, planning, and public enquiries.

Requirements

  • Recognised arboricultural qualification at Level 3.
  • Practical experience in assessing and surveying trees and identifying tree works.
  • Experience in using GIS tree management systems.
  • Ability to interpret risks posed by trees.
