About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiology Specialist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Locum Consultant in Dental Imaging, you will be responsible for providing radiological reports on conventional radiographs and CBCT imaging, as well as providing radiological support for MDT meetings.

The successful candidate will have experience in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, including conventional radiography, CBCT, Ultrasound, and Sialography. You will work closely with dental radiologists, medical radiologists, and radiographers to support the delivery of the service.

Main Duties
  1. Providing radiological reports on conventional radiographs and CBCT imaging
  2. Providing radiological support for MDT meetings
  3. Working alongside the radiography team to ensure high-quality diagnostic images
  4. Working alongside the dental team to provide radiological support as required
  5. Participating in the training of staff and taking an active role in teaching and audit
  6. Aiding in the provision of salivary gland diagnostic imaging and salivary gland interventions
  7. Supporting the Head and Neck Radiology team in undertaking ultrasound examinations and tissue sampling
  8. Providing reports for cross-sectional radiological examinations if required (CT, MRI)
  9. Participating in audit at both departmental and hospital level
  10. Training DCTs and Undergraduates when appropriate

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Full GDC Registration and License to Practice in the UK
  • CCST in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology/CCST within 6 months or equivalent

Additionally, the successful candidate will have:

  • BDS or equivalent
  • DDMFR (RCR) or equivalent

Desirable qualifications include:

  • MFDS/MJDF or equivalent

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Experience in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology, including conventional radiography, CBCT, Ultrasound, and Sialography
  • Experience in salivary gland interventions
  • Experience in image-guided biopsy techniques
  • The ability to work/report independently

Desirable skills include:

  • Attendance at appropriate professional meetings and courses

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Ability to provide reports for a range of Dental and Maxillofacial imaging studies, including CBCT and conventional radiography
  • Ability to carry out ultrasound examination of the head and neck and tissue sampling techniques under ultrasound guidance
  • Ability to carry out salivary gland diagnostic imaging and salivary gland interventions

Additionally, the successful candidate will have:

  • Evidence of participation in and commitment to teaching
  • The ability to train and supervise junior dental staff and students
