The Transformation Unit at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled Database and Linux Platform Specialist to support and develop Linux platforms across the Trust.

Job Summary

This key position within the ICT team will liaise with multiple clinical and operational staff both within and external to the Trust to support across both sites. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of Linux technology, including RHEL 7, and be able to act as the department's Subject Matter Expert (SME) on database and Linux technology.

The role involves supporting and maintaining all databases hosted by the ICT department, which number over 900. The post holder will help set the Trust's database and Linux technology strategy and vision with the HOD and make decisions on the operations of all Trust SQL Database Management Systems (DBMS). This will include designing and implementing new database systems and continually improving database and Linux performance.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing concurrent projects and conflicting priorities, as well as communicating complex issues and data concepts to a range of people. They will also have basic knowledge of IT networking and an understanding of ETL technology used in SQL Server data warehouse.

About the Role

This is a BWC-wide post with operational responsibility across the whole organisation for Linux platforms. The department utilises mainly Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) technology, so the post holder should possess excellent knowledge of this technology.
