Senior Clinical Fellow in Acute Medicine Position

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the Trust as a Senior Clinical Fellow within our excellent Acute Medicine department. The Senior Clinical Fellow will have opportunities to further their knowledge through exposure to clinics, ward rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and formal teaching. The post holders will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations, and teachings. In addition, we offer a weekly speciality skill session aligned to the successful applicants' personal development plan.
Main Duties of the JobWorking alongside others in managing elective and emergency patients. Initial resuscitation and management of all emergency patients presenting to the department. Initiation of the necessary investigation of patients and the referral to the relevant on-call specialist team when indicated. The post holder will be involved in the day-to-day care of all patients who remain on the AMU. Participation on the on take general medicine rota, providing support to the oncall medical team in new admissions and out of hours cover to the hospital.

Person SpecificationQualifications/TrainingEssential Criteria- Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council
- MRCP PACES or equivalent degree
- Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience of audit
- Recognition of and ability to undertake the initial management of, an acutely ill patient
- Demonstrate aptitude for practical skills e.g. hand-eye coordination, dexterity, visuospatial awareness
- Experience of Medicine and other medical specialties at IM3/ST3 level equivalent and above
- NHS experience
- Up to date and fit to practice safely and aware of own training needs
- Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation
- Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors
- Able to show situational awareness and application of good decision making
- Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
- Experience in organising educational activities
- Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion
