About the Role

The Renal Counsellor role at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a highly respected position that requires a skilled psychotherapeutic practitioner to work with renal patients.

As part of the multi-disciplinary team, you will provide a range of short, medium, and long-term counselling for patients with renal conditions.

You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to assess patient needs and develop tailored care plans.

Main Responsibilities
  • Respond to referrals and assess patient needs and risk
  • Provide face-to-face and telephone/video clinics
  • Use a range of psychological interventions, including counselling, problem-solving, stress and anxiety management, trauma work, solution-focused therapy, and group work

Person Specification
  • Recognised professional qualification to degree level in psychological therapy
  • Accredited practitioner status with a registered body
  • Postgraduate qualification in counselling or psychotherapy/psychology
  • Significant practice experience as a Counsellor or Psychotherapist
  • Hospital/medical setting experience
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to patient groups and mental health
