Freedom of Information Case Adviser

The Treasury's Correspondence and Information Rights Team is a collaborative unit that promotes responsible public spending and drives sustainable economic growth. It consists of the Freedom of Information Team, Data Protection team, Correspondence and Enquiries Unit, and CIRT Technology Team.
This role is part of the Freedom of Information Team and is based across London, Norwich, and Darlington. We encourage people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to join our team.
About the JobAs a FOI Case Adviser, you will:
- Develop a solid understanding of the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
- Handle casework by ensuring policy officials engage with the FOI Team and adhere to statutory deadlines.
- Suggest and deliver solutions for handling sensitive information in accordance with the legislation.
- Engage with external partners to share relevant knowledge and information.
- Deliver awareness sessions on information regimes across the department to promote good practice and compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and develop an understanding of data analysis to drive performance.
You will gain insight into various areas of the Treasury and develop an understanding of the legal regimes that cover access to Treasury information. You will represent the Department by engaging with other government departments.
The ideal candidate will have experience in information disclosure issues, including handling requests under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations. However, ability to do the role is more important, and training on the legislation can be provided.
