As a key member of our Portfolio Office team, you will play a crucial role in driving the planning and delivery of our projects and programmes. Your expertise will be instrumental in building and maintaining a robust planning capability, ensuring that our projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement best practice planning processes, tools, and templates to ensure consistency and efficiency across the portfolio.
  • Provide specialist planning advice and support to project and programme managers, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver their projects successfully.
  • Manage dependencies across the portfolio, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure that projects are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Analyse performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and develop strategies to address these.
  • Build and maintain external networks to access technical and professional best practice, ensuring that our planning capability remains up-to-date and aligned with industry standards.
Requirements:
  • Substantial experience of leading planning for large and complex projects and programmes, with a proven track record of delivering successful outcomes.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of creating integrated master schedules across multiple projects and programmes in a portfolio.
  • Ability to drive best practice through excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to work well as a member of a team.
  • Adept at presenting insights and trends in a variety of formats and levels of detail to suit different audience requirements.
  • Substantial experience of using project schedule tools, preferably MS Project, as well as other MS tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and SharePoint.
Desirable Criteria:
  • A project or programme management qualification, such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or Agile Project Management Practitioner.
  • Experience of working in Agile, hybrid, and waterfall project or programme delivery environments, with varying levels of maturity.

This role will support the incumbent Portfolio Office Lead Planner in the discharge of their responsibilities, allowing them to focus on developing our portfolio-level plans and dependency management.
