About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Android development lead to join our team at AJ Bell, a leading investment platform business in the UK. As an Android Lead Developer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and iterating our customer-facing Android applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and engage a strong Android development team to drive innovation and excellence in our mobile platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve our modularized frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable Kotlin code.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of our applications.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
  • Support the business in achieving its regulatory requirements, including consumer duty.
Requirements
  • Strong commercial experience in native mobile development.
  • Experience in developing consumer-facing, high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
  • Strong knowledge of Android SDK and its components.
  • Understanding of design patterns and SOLID principles.
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services.
  • Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and available libraries.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Understanding of Android design principles and interface guidelines.
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
