About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Operational Manager to join our Patient Access team at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in the development and provision of a comprehensive, high-quality, patient-centered care service.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Management: Provide lead responsibility for the RTT validation team and RTT training across the trust, ensuring that all staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality patient care.
  2. Operational Management: Collaborate with the Operational Manager and Head of Patient Access to ensure sound operational management of all areas, with a focus on continuous improvement and the development of robust systems.
  3. Staff Management: Liaise with General Managers and specialties regarding their inpatient activity, highlighting and escalating any issues, and providing advice and support to ensure that service level agreement activity levels and quality standards are maintained.
  4. Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs for RTT and associated PAS administrative processes, ensuring that all staff are up-to-date with the latest policies and procedures.
  5. Financial Management: Responsible for departmental budget and lead the implementation and review of robust systems and processes to ensure that budgets are effectively managed and financial balance is achieved.
  6. HR and Governance: Implement HR and governance strategies and policies to achieve compliance with Trust policies and procedures, best practice, relevant legislation, and regulatory provisions.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience: Evidence of continued professional development, service delivery within a healthcare setting, information analysis, business planning in a multi-disciplinary setting, and experience of dealing with staff management issues.
  • Leadership and Management: Sound leadership abilities, with experience of managing and delivering change programs.
  • Qualifications: A degree or equivalent level of ability gained through substantial NHS experience in a management setting, with specialist knowledge across a range of work procedures, including RTT.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills, and the ability to negotiate, influence, and persuade staff at all levels.
