About Our Business: Richards Hogg Lindley, a trading name of Charles Taylor Adjusting, specializes in handling complex marine losses for shipowner clients worldwide. We provide expert claims adjustment and advice on all levels of loss, including Hull & Machinery and General Average.
The Role: As a Technical Marine Engineer, you will work closely with our experienced team to provide in-house technical advice on various marine engineering general knowledge topics. Your expertise will include machinery failure investigations, vessel types, onboard machinery operation and maintenance, and ship and machinery repair procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough desktop reviews and damage investigations to answer adjusters' questions.
- Provide technical guidance on damage nature, extent, and cause for various damage types.
- Travel at short notice to perform onsite surveys as requested by RHL/CTA.
- Review repair accounts and provide independent cost approvals.
- Chair technical meetings with superintendents, repairers, and insurers as required.
- Act as technical umpire in times of impasse between insurer and shipowner.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports in English for non-technical readers.
- Provide peer review of other marine engineers' findings and reports.
- Support business development and marketing activities.
- Deliver technical presentations to adjusting teams and clients worldwide.
- Preferably a HND or similar educational qualification related to marine engineering.
- Ex-seagoing marine engineer up to Second Engineer or equivalent.
- Working towards or registered IEng/CEng with IMarEST.
- Good understanding of engineering failures and required repairs.
- Ability to physically attend site and travel worldwide at short notice.
- Strong command of English, both written and spoken.
Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
