About the Role

We are looking for an AR Optical Development Engineer to join the Optical Engine Delivery Team at Snap Inc. The Optical Engine (OE) Delivery Team is responsible for the engineering, characterisation and manufacture of Snap's AR display platform.

Responsibilities

  • Help transfer designs and processes to contract manufacturers and manufacturing partners.
  • Understand optical experimental methodology and have experience in an optical laboratory environment.
  • Analyse incoming process data from the manufacturer and provide support with failure analysis.
  • Support process development, including validating process development and conducting root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Good optical engineering experience with a focus on manufacturing and processes.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with fast-changing needs and priorities.
  • Prototyping and analysis of opto-mechanical designs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in optical engineering or a PhD in physics, optics or engineering.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with mechanical design and rapid prototyping of jigs and fixtures.
  • Experience in display testing and image quality evaluation.
  • Experience in colorimetry and radiometry.
  • Experience in AR/VR systems.
  • Experience with micro displays.
  • Understanding of Polarising optics.
  • Understanding of Diffractive Optics.
  • Software experience, such as Python or LabView.
