About the Role

We are looking for a Capacity Management Specialist to join our team in the Emergency Centre. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with Matrons, Consultants, operational managers, and clinicians to deliver a seamless patient journey through Medicine and Emergency Department clinical pathways.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the effective management of patient flow, working collaboratively with colleagues to identify and resolve issues that could impact patient pathways. Your key responsibilities will include assisting staff in ensuring best practice in planning safe and timely patient discharges, maximising the use of ED cubicles and Acute Medicine inpatient beds, and ensuring timely specialty review and onward transfer of patients.

You will also be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and reporting on discharge trends, patient length of stay, delayed transfers of care, utilisation of the discharge lounge, utilisation of virtual ward, criteria to admit, and practice-related issues within Acute Medicine.

  • Maximise the use of ED cubicles and Acute Medicine inpatient beds.
