Description

This is an exciting opportunity for skilled and enthusiastic individuals to join our team in London as Overhaul and Modification Technicians.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking overhaul, modification, corrective and preventative maintenance, servicing, complex fault finding and repair on our fleet of Class 800 & 802 rolling stock for the Intercity Express Program on the GWR West Main Line.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Operations pre-sale activities in preparation for final train commissioning, testing and acceptance by the customer.
  • Support Great Western and East Coast Main Line train delivery, testing and commissioning teams in the UK and in Japan.
  • Perform the 'safety of the line' inspections prior to commencement of nightly / daily testing.
  • Undertake the testing maintenance regime at North Pole or any other testing location as required.
  • Perform fault finding and repair of Hitachi rolling stock assets.
  • Undertake depot special tools initial training and competency assessment.
  • Support the continued development of the SAP maintenance management system (MMS).
  • Ensure all materials removed from the store are recorded in SAP.
  • Development of the Maintenance Manual.
  • Attendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
  • Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
  • Must undertake training for depot train driving / assessment and pass as competent.

About You

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, Powered plant and tools experience.
  • Experience of working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment.
  • Rolling stock test, approvals and commissioning experience.
  • Ability to investigate complex electrical and mechanical faults and write detailed reports.

Education/Qualifications

  • Served apprenticeship with mechanical, electrical disciplines.
  • Engineering based NVQ level 3.

What We Offer

A competitive salary of £42,218 per annum, plus 15% shift allowance, £6000 location allowance and a permanent contract. Additional benefits include 25 days holiday, pension scheme with contributions up to 9%, private medical insurance, group life insurance and employee assistance programme.
