Job Title: Senior Commercial Manager

At Babcock International Group, we're working to create a safe and secure world, together. As a Senior Commercial Manager, you'll play a key role in our Devonport Royal Dockyard site, supporting our Major Infrastructure Project (MIP) portfolio.

The Role

You'll provide commercial expertise and governance to internal stakeholders, including finance, project teams, supply chain, and senior management. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing commercial support for tenders and contract reviews, processes, policies, and commercial risks.
  • Developing and maintaining positive customer relationships to represent the company in negotiations.
  • Overseeing the production of change orders to Qualifying Defence Contracts (QDCs) and gathering robust evidence to support contract changes.
  • Acting as an escalation point for high-risk commercial issues.
  • Providing advice and drafting on client and supplier NEC4 terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with internal processes.

This is a full-time role, 35 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements.

Essential Experience

  • Significant commercial experience in managing large and complex construction contracts, bids, and change initiatives in a regulated environment.
  • Demonstrable evidence of developing effective customer relationships and negotiating independently within agreed delegations.
  • Knowledge of NEC4 ECC and PSC terms.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to identify commercial risks, propose mitigation steps, and communicate effectively.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level (ideally Business, Law, MRICS, MCIOB, or similar), equivalent qualification, or relevant experience.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
