Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Practice Nurse Specialist to join our team at Brook Medical Centre. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of excellent healthcare services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide routine nursing services to our patient population, including vaccinations, cervical smears, wound management, and ECGs.
  • Conduct health checks and screenings, such as lipids, blood pressure, and cervical smears.
  • Support and assist with clinics, including diabetic, hypertension, asthma, menopause, warfarin, minor surgery, and contraception.
  • Undertake ECG and other routine monitoring procedures.
  • Provide travel advice and minor illness diagnosis and treatment.
  • Perform venepuncture and take and prepare pathology samples.
  • Conduct general nursing duties, including dressings, ear syringing, and maintenance of health promotion literature and information for patients.
  • Assist doctors with minor surgery procedures, when required.
  • Input information onto the Practice clinical system and use it for patient searches, clinics, and patient recall.
  • Manage long-term conditions, including asthma, diabetes, and COPD.
  • Ensure infection control procedures are followed and maintain treatment room equipment, including testing and recording.

About Us

Brook Medical Centre is a busy practice with a patient list in excess of 6300 patients. Our practice area is on the eastern edge of Northampton and comprises a mixture of private and social housing.

    • Registration with NMC
  • Experience
    • Working independently as well as in a team environment
    • Experience of working in Primary Care (desirable)
