About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Ensemble Health Partners. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient admission process for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients admitted for services at the hospital, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Assign accurate Medical Record Numbers (MRNs), complete medical necessity/compliance checks, and provide proper patient instructions.
  • Collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and utilize an overlay tool to provide excellent customer service.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard, relaying incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls, while adhering to policies and providing exceptional customer service.
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accurate accounts, conducting audits and providing statistical data to Patient Access leadership.
  • Pre-register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound and outbound calling to obtain demographic, insurance, and patient information.
  • Explain general consent for treatment forms to patients/guarantors/legal guardians, obtaining necessary signatures and witnesses' names.
  • Explain and distribute patient education documents, such as Important Message from Medicare, Important Message from Tricare, Observation Forms, MOON form, Consent forms, and other relevant documents.
  • Review eligibility responses in insurance verification systems and select applicable insurance plan codes, entering benefit data into the system to support Point of Service (POS) collections and billing processes.
  • Accurately screen medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software, informing Medicare patients of possible non-payment of tests and distributing the ABN as necessary.
Requirements
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • CRCR Certification Required within 6 months of hire
