Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Literacy Support Assistant to join our team at a welcoming Primary School in Preston. As a Literacy Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the literacy development of children in Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in developing reading, writing, and phonics skills through one-on-one and small group sessions.
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective literacy lessons.
  • Monitor and assess students' progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed.
  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, helping students to achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure consistent and integrated literacy support across the curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally within an educational setting.
  • A good understanding of literacy development in early years and Key Stage 1.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards helping children succeed.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in education, teaching assistance, or child development are desirable.
