We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health Liaison Team at Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing consultant and other services in the community, including the Crisis Response and Home Treatment Team, to ensure safe discharge and follow-up support. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of local Mental Health Services and improve the standards of mental health care offered by Sussex Partnership NHS Trust.
The post holder will be responsible for providing specialist medical advice and consultation to a range of health staff, promoting effective delivery of person-centered mental health care. They will also offer training to professional audiences to improve the quality of mental health care locally.
The successful candidate will have a qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management, and dual training in General Adult and Older Persons Mental Health. They will be required to operate within the professional code of conduct, guidelines, policies, procedures, and legislation relevant to the post.

Main Duties of the Job
- Provide specialist medical and psychiatric assessment, treatment, and care for patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Work closely with the existing consultant and other services in the community to ensure safe discharge and follow-up support.
- Provide specialist medical advice and consultation to a range of health staff to promote effective delivery of person-centered mental health care.
- Offer training to professional audiences to improve the quality of mental health care locally.
- Contribute to the development of local Mental Health Services and improve the standards of mental health care offered by Sussex Partnership NHS Trust.
Requirements
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- Dual training in General Adult and Older Persons Mental Health.
- Ability to operate within the professional code of conduct, guidelines, policies, procedures, and legislation relevant to the post.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this post is £105,504 to £139,882 per annum, pro rata for part-time working. The post also attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment (RRP) of £25,000, in addition to up to £8,000 relocation allowance.
