The Evening Standard is seeking a highly skilled Senior SEO Editor to lead our digital content strategy and drive significant growth in our search traffic and visibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to enhance search visibility, drive traffic, and support the Evening Standard's digital goals.
  • Oversee technical SEO initiatives, including site architecture, crawlability, indexing, site speed, mobile optimization, and structured data implementation.
  • Provide ongoing SEO support to the newsroom, assisting editors and journalists with on-page SEO best practices to optimize content performance.
  • Quickly formulate and execute SEO strategies for breaking news to ensure timely and relevant content reaches the largest possible audience.
  • Plan and oversee SEO content strategies for major events such as elections, sporting tournaments, and other significant occurrences.
  • Lead and mentor the SEO function, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in SEO practices.
  • Utilize and manage SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Trisolute, and SEMRush to monitor performance, identify opportunities, and implement improvements.
  • Work closely with editorial, product, and engineering teams to ensure SEO considerations are integrated into all digital initiatives.
  • Use data analytics to inform SEO strategies and decisions, providing insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Stay current with the latest SEO trends, including optimization for Google Discover and strategies for addressing Search Generative Experiences.
