About the Role

Hunter Dunning is seeking a skilled Town Planner to join their team in Whiteley, Hampshire. As a key member of the Planning department, you will be responsible for securing planning permissions for various projects, ranging from unique bespoke developments to large-scale schemes exceeding 1,000 units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the planning process across all stages, from site inspection through to receipt of planning permissions, reporting to the director of the department
  • Create and manage planning applications, conditions, and appeal documents for local authority submissions
  • Conduct research on previous planning applications for sites, as necessary
  • Accurate record keeping for internal systems and local authority planning policies and plan reviews
  • Represent the business at planning and consultation meetings
  • Stay up-to-date with local planning policies and strategies across transport, green infrastructure, renewable energy, local economy, jobs, climate change, and more
  • Obtain and negotiate quotes from consultants and external engineers
  • Liaise with the wider planning team on relevant issues

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience, ideally within the local region
  • Experience in addressing the general public as well as council officers and committee members in a public forum
  • Knowledge and experience in the planning processes and associated regulations
  • Planning or Surveying Degree or above or equivalent is desirable
  • MRTPI, MRICS or RIBA is desirable

  • Salary ranging between £28,000 - £32,000 DOE + mileage
  • 21 - 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, depending on seniority
