About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Maths specialist to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a Maths specialist, you will be responsible for teaching and/or tutoring students with special educational needs (SEN) at a non-profit independent special school in the East of Bath area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Deliver Lessons: Create and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students with SEN, ensuring accessibility and engagement.
  • Adapt Teaching Methods: Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet individual learning styles and needs, using a variety of approaches to explain mathematical concepts.
  • Assess and Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and monitor students' progress, using both formative and summative assessments, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Support Staff: Work closely with support staff, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that align with each student's learning goals.
  • Communicate with Parents: Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on progress and involving them in their child's learning journey.
  • Provide Emotional Support: Provide emotional support to students, helping them develop confidence, self-esteem, and social skills alongside their academic learning.
  • Foster an Inclusive Environment: Foster an inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and promotes equality, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualifications.
  • Teaching Experience: Have experience teaching Maths and working with students with SEN.
  • Passion for Children's Wellbeing: Demonstrate a passion for children's social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Flexibility: Be flexible to meet pupils' needs.
