The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
Key Responsibilities:- Oversight of Customs Compliance processes for the Largest Aircraft Engine Service Facility within a global business.
- Management of import and export processes within the site for a Global Supply Chain, identifying areas of risk to the business, including investigation of compliance defects and leading corrective actions to closure.
- Manage direct reports and maintain internal team processes and ongoing training.
- Manage the classification and valuation of goods process to ensure accurate and consistent customs declarations in line with HMRC and global policies.
- Provide technical customs advice and guidance to Programme teams to ensure compliance with internal corporate policies and procedures.
- Oversee Monitoring of customs entries to ensure freight agents have imported/exported goods correctly, and request amendments where required.
- Support and lead internal training needs to ensure processes and work instructions are followed.
- Maintain knowledge of and stay current on regulatory changes and solid understanding of required documentation such as commercial invoices.
- Represent the company in discussions with local customs authorities and manage any customs audits, ensuring accurate and timely data is provided where required.
- Work with Customs and Transport organisation to execute global trade compliance policies and strategies.
- Reviewing and updating internal policies and SOPs in line with new and changing regulations.
- Strong computer literacy skills, with ongoing experience of windows-based packages.
- Possess a strong understanding of HM Customs & Excise IPR, End Use and Community Control procedures.
- Bachelors Degree / relevant diploma holder desirable.
- Possess an innovative, logical and creative approach to resolving issues and process improvements.
- Understanding of technical issues such as Airworthiness Directives (AD's) and transport quality/compliance standards.
- Have professional attributes to deal with customers, contractors and auditors face-to-face.
