Sanctuary Personnel Ltd is currently seeking a highly skilled Band 7 Neuro Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our client's dynamic team in Surrey.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting staff involved in the cognitive, physical, communication, functional, social, and emotional rehabilitation of adults with acquired brain injury.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct the clinical work of junior staff and psychology students within the department.
  • Initiate and participate in formal research projects, with publication as appropriate.
  • Support the Psychology team and members of the multi-disciplinary team as needed.
  • Represent the Service at required clinical and non-clinical meetings, delivering presentations and participating in training sessions.
  • Stay updated on developments in the field of brain injury rehabilitation.
  • Assess and manage mental capacity and risk issues in collaboration with the Lead Psychologist and wider MDT.

  • Actively engage in learning, development, and feedback opportunities as required by organisational policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Prioritise health and safety to ensure the wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, residents, and clients.
  • Understand and act in accordance with the current versions of the organisation's policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Training:

Essential:

  • Doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling Psychology.
  • Up-to-date HCPC registration (or for newly qualified clinical psychologists, registration upon course completion).

Desirable:

  • Professional qualifications and experience in Neuropsychology, counselling, psychotherapy, or behaviour management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
  • Understanding of current theoretical models and skills in working with challenging behaviours.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design, and complex data analysis in clinical psychology.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development as recommended by the BPS.
  • Knowledge of specialised psychological therapies for individuals with acquired brain injury.
  • Reflective practice regarding issues of difference and diversity in clinical decision-making.
  • Knowledge of cognitive rehabilitation models.
  • Understanding of health psychology theories and their application to neuropsychological settings.
  • Expertise in using neuropsychological assessment to inform care planning.
  • Background in neuro-rehab or community-based neuro settings for individuals with acquired brain injury.
  • Facilitation of psycho-education or psychological therapy groups.
  • Supervision of assistant psychologists.

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to teach and train others using diverse multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional, and academic settings.
  • Capability to identify and implement clinical governance mechanisms to support clinical practice amidst highly emotive and challenging behaviour.
  • Flexibility in working schedules, including occasional evenings or early mornings to accommodate families and support staff working shift patterns.
