Job Summary:

Dundee City Council is seeking a skilled and compassionate Housing Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our housing services team, you will provide vital support to vulnerable tenants, helping them to manage their accommodation successfully and reduce the risk of eviction, anti-social behavior, debt, and other threats to their security of tenure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to tenants who have been identified as vulnerable, helping them to manage their accommodation and reduce the risk of eviction, anti-social behavior, debt, and other threats to their security of tenure.
  • Work with tenants to identify their needs and develop personalized support plans to help them achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to provide a comprehensive range of services to tenants.
  • Conduct regular home visits to assess the needs of tenants and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with tenants, community groups, and other stakeholders to promote the services offered by Dundee City Council.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • HNC/Level 3 in Housing or a relevant subject, or equivalent experience.
  • Qualification meeting SSSC registration requirements for Housing Support Workers.
  • Experience in housing and/or support service provision, or a social care background, or experience of multi-agency working.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Empathy for those requiring advice and support, good organizational and people skills, and a team player.

Working Arrangements:

This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week. You may be required to work some evenings and weekends.

Regulated Work:

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
