Job Title: Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team at Cambian Meeko House, a 12-bedded children's residential home catering for 12 – 18-year-olds with on-going mental health needs and challenging behaviours.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a range of psychological interventions for children and young people using the latest evidence-based practices. This will include assessing, formulating, and delivering care plans involving psychological treatment and management of cases. The Clinical Psychologist will also be responsible for supervising assistant psychologists and psychology graduates (Therapeutic Practitioners) to provide psychological interventions, as well as training and guidance of support staff to provide psychologically informed practices across the home.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Providing psychological interventions for children and young people using evidence-based practices.
  2. Assessing, formulating, and delivering care plans involving psychological treatment and management of cases.
  3. Supervising assistant psychologists and psychology graduates (Therapeutic Practitioners) to provide psychological interventions.
  4. Training and guidance of support staff to provide psychologically informed practices across the home.
  5. Implementing evidence-based psychological interventions, making evaluations and decisions about treatment options, and monitoring outcomes to ensure effectiveness for your own caseload as well as supporting/supervising Assistant psychologist and other practitioners in relation to their caseload.
  6. Participating in making evidence-based recommendations to the multidisciplinary team regarding assessment, interventions, and skills required to deliver the plan of care and expected health/social outcomes whilst also minimising risk.
  7. Maintaining adherence to NICE guidelines and best practice clinical standards.
  8. Attending and contributing to CMAP meeting, multi-disciplinary meetings, and other professional reviews.
  9. Maintaining accurate records of clinical input.
  10. Participating in regular clinical supervision.
  11. Participating in service development initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Postgraduate doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Working knowledge of child and adult safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience/knowledge of routine clinical outcomes monitoring.
  • Experience/knowledge of clinical risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use a computer competently, with a broad base of IT skills.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise workload.
  • Strong literacy and report writing skills, with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience of managing complex caseloads and applying a range of interventions.
Desirable:
  • Experience of delivering specialist assessments in Autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, complex needs, and/or challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge of developmental trauma and in supporting families with children who are looked after/adopted.
