Job Title: Publicity Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Publicity Officer to join our team at Duckworth, a leading independent publisher of quality non-fiction and literary fiction. As a Publicity Officer, you will be responsible for promoting our authors and books through various channels, including social media, book trade events, and in-house publicity campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain our social media presence across multiple platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook.
  • Organize and coordinate book trade events, conferences, and festivals to promote our authors and books.
  • Support in-house publicity campaigns, including research, writing, and design of promotional materials.
  • Identify and pursue promotional opportunities, including media outreach and pitching.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, authors, and other industry professionals.
  • Generate publicity updates and reports to support the sales team.
  • Keep records of all press, radio, and TV coverage.
  • Perform general administrative tasks related to publicity, including mail distribution and database maintenance.
Requirements:
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in publicity, marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong social media skills and proficiency in social media management tools.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to craft compelling promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of the book trade and publishing industry, including authors, books, and trends.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
What We Offer:
  • A competitive salary range of £26,000-£28,000 pro rata, depending on experience.
  • A 9-month contract, with a minimum of 2 days per week at our offices in Richmond-on-Thames.
