Culinary Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Culinary Specialist to join our team at Shottendane Nursing Home, part of the Discovery Care Group. As a key member of our catering team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality food services to our residents, ensuring their dietary needs are met, and maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment.

• Develop and implement daily and weekly menus that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of our residents, including special diets and textured modified diets.
• Prepare and serve meals in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all food is presented in a visually appealing way.
• Under the supervision of the manager, order and manage inventory of food supplies, maintaining strict control over costs and ensuring that all equipment is used in accordance with suppliers' instructions and training.
• Operate an efficient stock control system, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and reporting any faults immediately.
• Ensure that all food is stored and handled in accordance with statutory and company requirements, maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
• Provide person-centered care, treating residents as individuals and respecting their choices and preferences.
• Maintain accurate and legible records of food preparation, storage, and serving.

• Previous experience in a similar environment is preferred, but not essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
